2005 SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA

INTERNATIONAL FLAMENCO FESTIVAL

In October of 2005, The Bay Area Flamenco Partnership launched the inaugural edition of the San Francisco Bay Area International Flamenco Festival. We were honored to present an artist and ensemble of the highest calibre: one of the most important flamenco artists on the international scene, dancer/choreographer, ANDRES MARIN. Company members included acclaimed guitarists Antonio Rey and Juan Antonio Suarez "Canito", singer El Londro, percussionist Daniel Suarez and guest dancer, Carola Zertuche.

The Festival's opening night gala was an Bay Area Flamenco All-Star Showcase benefiting Hurricane Katrina relief with the participation of virtually all of the top Flamenco performers in the region.

Other Festival events included the screening of Tao Ruspoli's legendary documentary film, "Flamenco, A Personal Journey" and an exhibition of original flamenco-themed paintings by local singer/dancer, Roberto Zamora.
